This proposal for a new Institute for Future Energy Design and Town planning encompasses
everything that the institute should stand for. The design offers a proposal that is both exciting,
innovative, and will remain relevant and functional in over 50 years’ time. The project is proposal for the neue technik campus, Graz. however, can be used as a model for future university design to come.
The building is net energy positive, using an array of solar tracking PV cells. The PV cells are designed to be eye catching and visually pleasing, they act as solar shading and allow diffused light into the building.
The ever present solar cells, and vertical farm are designed to act as a catalyst for innovation. The students are surrounded by modern technology which is design to reduce the impact the building has on the planet.
The building centres around a study, staircase, which creates an informal space for
study and socialising that will attract the best students from the University, and the further reaches of Graz. This is the perfect environment for sparks of innovation to collide.
